I stumbled across a fascinating
article about the collapse of three societies: Easter Island, the Anasazi, and the Norse settlement in Greenland, all of which collapsed (at least in part) because they overexploited their environment. These stories sound frighteningly like scale models of our own environmental arrogance today.
