Big cheers to California governor Grey Davis for having the guts, unlike Capitol Hill, to pass some aggressive fuel economy standards. Hopefully the realities of satisfying California's new law, when they make up 10% of the auto-buying public, will create a de facto nationwide standard even though Congress let the auto and oil industries bully them into killing the federal law.
