Paypal just tried to con me with the sneakiest attempt at stealth lock-in I've seen. I sold some stuff on eBay, and when the auction ended, Paypal sent the winners an email inviting them to pay me by credit card. They did so, and then Paypal sent me a mail saying that in order to accept those credit card payments, I would have to upgrade to a "premium" account (and pay them ~3% of every transaction). This leaves me in the unhappy position of having to tell my buyers that I cannot accept their payment, despite their having received mail that seemed to be sent on my behalf inviting them to pay that way. Shame on you, Paypal.
