Just four months, and I'm already itching to do another redesign. If I follow my usual pattern, this one will be fairly simple and minimalist, with a plain white background. However, no danger of changing it in the near future, as my schedule is full until, oh, let's see, about 2006. Part of the problem, and the source of these many redesigns, is that my cheap hosting account doesn't allow server-side includes, PHP, or anything like that, so the cool-looking designs are a pain to maintain.

As of now, following links no longer opens a new window. I made this change after realizing that it annoys the hell out of me when a link does that and I don't want it to, and that I always right-click and open a new window manually if I do want that.

We usually make cakes from scratch, but yesterday we were out of cake flour, so we attempted to make a cake from a mix we found deep in the back of our pantry. The mix, once made, smelled sort of weird, so we called the toll-free number on the cake box, hoping to learn some way of determining whether cake mix goes bad, and specifically whether this one had. We got one of those touch-tone response systems, and the second choice we got was, "If you are trying to determine the age of your cake mix, press 1." While I was happy to find the information I wanted so easily, I found it very strange that this was featured so prominently. Anyway, it asked me to input a code from the cake mix box, and it turns out the mix was 11 years old, and we put it straight down the disposal.

A few places in the Bay Area that sell Oriental (especially Chinese) furnishings and art: Man-U Imports in San Mateo, Big Pagoda in San Francisco, Martino's in Los Gatos, and Teak House in San Jose.
