I like pie

My third-grader has a friend at school who is in the habit of interjecting into random conversations and at random times the sentence, "I like pie." This amuses me. Googling it gives me the impression that this is a somewhat well-known meme, but I can't find anything suggesting an origin for it.

If you follow the first link Google suggests (which eventually takes you here ), you'll find the first episode uses the phrase "me like pie". I don't know whether this cartoon became a phenomenon as much as Trogdor or Badgers (I was unimpressed when I first saw it way back when), but I always assumed it was responsible for all of that pie nonsense.

You may find it amusing that at 21 years old, I am doing that. It's a great pickup line :)

YOu may *not* find it amusing that Googling "I like pie" yields this page :(

In the show "The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy" on Cartoon Network the idiot boy, Billy, often blurts out "I Like Pie".

I'm nearly 30, and I started saything this, I thought, at random, roughly two years ago. A coworker was blathering on about something which I found rather boring, and when attempting to elict a response, garnered "I like pie."

It's become a staple in my (lack of) social life.

i do have an amazing obsession with pie when i'm at school. i do find its good, but i don't really love it as much as i say i do. i think its just because it's a way to be funny. especially when you're a class clown, such as me.

I am a substitute teacher. An eighth grade student handed me a note that said "I like pie". I googled it because a few days ago, another eighth grade student wrote it on the board. I was just wondering if it had any specific meaning.

I saw a kid on court TV blurt this out when asked to comment on a court case. It was hilarious. I recently ran across it again, so I thought I'd google it to find it's origins. Haven't found one yet.

I use the expression "I like pie" so often that it has become almost like my catchphrase. A humorous story about it: a girl once asked me, "What are your last words going to be?" I didn't know what to say, so I said the first thing that popped into my mind: "I like pie!"

Until quite recently, I didn't know anyone else used the phrase "I like pie". But here is the origin of the phrase as far as I know: I found it on the Disney Channel website, under the section for the show "Brandy and Mr. Whiskers". That part of the site has a little test you can take to see if you personality is more like Brandy's or Mr. Whisker's. The last question is: "Which of these would be your personal motto?" The options were "I'm a sparkly diamond!" (for Brandy) or "I like pie!" (for Mr. Whiskers). I, of course, picked the pie one.

A 10-year-old in the Sunday School class I teach regularly and randomly announces that she likes pie. She's done this for the past year. I assumed that it was unique to her until a visitor to our class (from across the country) also randomly announced that she liked pie. At this point I doubted the originality of the statement and thus began a search for the orgin which led me here.
